Kristin Korpos | Engagement Session at the BCAE Kitchen

Monday, October 4th, 2010

Get ready to start drooling … a. over those amazing looking fajitas and b. over the amazingly cute couple and c. over the amazing talent that is flowing out of Kristin Korpos’s camera.  What a creative and fun idea for an engagement session!  I think it’s so great when a couple take something they love, i.e. cooking, and incorporates it into their engagement session.  I know that when I have my engagement photographs taken, I will feel SO much more comfortable being photographed doing an activity that i enjoy with my fiancee, rather than just hangin out in the city. But that’s just me.

I think doing what you love for your engagement session, whether its going for a walk in the park, or cooking or bowling or just lounging in your house, is the perfect way to reflect who you are as a couple.  Kristin Korpos did such a fantastic job at capturing the vivacity and fun of this engagement session.  Well, I love these photographs way too much to keep on writing about them, so go ahead, dive in!  You can see the full engagement session on Kristin Korpos’ blog!

Thanks to Kristin Korpos Photography for sharing!

Audra Bayette | Brooksby Farm Wedding at Smith Barn

Friday, October 1st, 2010

This beautiful barn wedding photographed by Audra Bayette has such great details.  One of my favorites?  The pies!  I love the idea of having pies instead of a wedding cake – especially for a barn wedding.  The homestyle atmosphere was perfect for the barn venue, and from the looks of it, it seems like every single person had a blast!  The homemade koozies and the apple butter favors/name cards are so awesome.  I love how the favors double as name cards … DIY, money-saver, and super adorable.  And if you scroll down to the very bottom … you will find the most adorable part : ) three little kiddies with fake mustaches and boas, having fun playing dress-up in the photo booth!   Check out the gorgeous photographs below and see the full wedding on Audra Bayette’s blog!

Orchard Cove Photography | A Preppy Meets Rustic Wedding

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

Avery and Ben’s wedding was a J. Crew meets Lily Pulitzer meets a more rustic, cozy style.  All of the elements came together so nicely, and the attire was Adorable with a capital A.  Also, the brides hair was like, miles long of gorgeousness and her up-do was so fitting!  I love all of the twists.  And while we’re still on the subject of attire – check out the groom’s tie .. yes .. that is a tequila shot tie.  LOVE IT.  I’ve never seen anything like it … props for finding that one, groom.  There were also two adorable lab pups that were involved in the wedding festivities and they seemed to enjoy themselves quite nicely!  Check out this beautiful wedding photographed by Orchard Cove Photography below and see the full wedding as featured on Orchard Cove Photography’s blog.

Relive Photography | Stonewall Farm Wedding

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

Vintage and farms …. LOVE IT.  Two styles that seamlessly go together in this beautiful wedding.  The bride’s red shoes are killer and the grooms adidas are totally what my brother is wearing at his wedding .. this is a good thing, I’m liking that style a lot.  I love the casual style and the romantic barn setting.  Also, how cute is it that the bride and groom incorporate the farm animals into their photography!  Brave.  I might have a slight fear of birds/poultry.  But the photographs are just stunning and Relive Photography did an amazing job at capturing all of the moments, even the animals and the jumping shots – who knew jumping shots could actually look that fun!   I think the sillier you jump, the better the photograph.  Check out the wedding below and see the full feature on Relive Photography’s blog!

North Conway Engagement Session | Birch Blaze Photography

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

I love this couple!  And, of course, the views.  How beautiful is North Conway … the mountains and clouds and cliffs are spectacular!  Now this is what I think of when I think New Hampshire.  Birch Blaze Photography did such a great job capturing the couple’s spirit and adventure while also catching the beautiful scenery.  I love the shot of the couple on the rocky slopes from a distance.  Thank you Kerry and Taylor for sharing this beautiful engagement session!

Diana Ma Weddings | Real Wedding

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

Dogs, dessert buffet’s, and DIY photo booths.  3 things on my oh-goodness-i-love-this list … and when incorporated into a wedding, even more love.  This couple is SO unbelievably adorable, especially when the bride is rockin the gigantic mustache.  The groom looks very happy to see his bride for the first time … gotta love that first glance look in any grooms eyes.  Also, those whoopie pies … what is there even to say except i would eat endless whoopie pies for the rest of my life if i had the option and a permanent model body.  Mmm, deliciousness!  All of this loveliness was planned by Diana Ma Weddings & Events.  Check out the full featured wedding on Diana Ma’s blog!

The Proposal | Ned Jackson Photography

Monday, September 20th, 2010

Ned Jackson Photography captured this amazing proposal at the Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier.  Brian, the propose-er, had gotten in touch with Ned about his idea to propose to propose-ee, Martha, while Ned hid out amongst the crowd, capturing the details as the proposal unfolded.  Ned, despite his six-foot-four-ness, remained hidden and unseen by Martha.  What a perfect way to capture an engagement session while the emotions are truly fresh and genuine.  Also … Brian proposed to Martha’s daughter that day as well … with a ring pop.  I love that!  Two girls, two rings, and a happy happy man = a very special day.  Congratulations!  See the full story and slideshow on Ned Jackson’s blog!

Congratulations to Brian and Martha!

Newlywed Rules to Throw Out the Window | MissNowMrs

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

One of the most annoying things that will happen to you upon becoming a newlywed is receiving unwanted, unsolicited advice from other people (both single and married)! They will bombard you with all of the ‘Newlywed Rules’ and tell you how to live your life the ‘right way’ in order to be happy. My question is: How do they know what makes you and/or your spouse happy? And what’s with the cookie-cutter way of living life, anyway?! Some of the most common rules are as follows along with reasons why you don’t HAVE to follow them:

Rule #1: Spend All Free Time Together

We are hoping that you already realize that this is not possible and could be quite boring! If you DO end up spending ALL your free time together you’re not only going to run out of interesting things to talk about, but you will also lose touch with your family and friends. You may also find yourselves fighting more because you are sick of each other! So, get out once in awhile and enjoy catching up with friends or having time to yourself!

Rule #2: Stop Hanging Out with your Single Friends

Wait, what?! The idea that you and your spouse are a married couple and should work on replacing your single friends with other married couples is just ridiculous. It’s a great idea to have a mix of married and single friends so that when you decide to host a dinner or Super Bowl party there’s more than just one ‘type’ of person in your crowd. It will make for more interesting and dynamic conversation and an overall better time!

Rule #3: You Must go Out on Dates to be Happy

While my husband and I stick to having at least one Date Night per week (we don’t have children yet—and realize that it gets trickier when you add them to the mix), it is not necessary that you and your spouse go OUT on a date each week. Date Night doesn’t always have to mean dinner at your favorite restaurant and a movie at your local theater (that could seriously put a strain on your budget)! Your date could consist of a night at home cuddled up on the couch with your spouse. Do what works for the two of you and don’t worry about what the definition of a date is to other couples.

Rule #4: You should both Share a Last Name/Bank Account/Gym or Country Club Membership/Etc.

Nowadays 86.6% of women change their name in some way due to marriage, but that doesn’t mean that you have to. Many women are opting to have 2 last names (with or without a hyphen) or to replace their middle name with their maiden name. Now men are even changing their last name to their wife’s last name upon marriage and some couples are changing both their last names to a new last name! With all these choices out there, why would you worry about what someone else wants you to do? It’s ok if you and your spouse decide to keep your own last names or separate bank accounts and just split the bills in half. Believe me, companies are going to accept your payment whether it comes from one check or a combination of two checks—they just want the bill paid on-time! As for your gym membership–if you attend a private Yoga or Pilates class and your spouse has a membership at a different gym, don’t feel obligated to make changes to your fitness routine. Sometimes you can save money by combining your memberships, but if there’s not that big of a difference in price or you’re not worried about losing the money than keep attending your own classes (and consider it ME time)!

Rule #5: Make a 5-Year Plan

If you are the type of person who sets goals and has a better chance of achieving them by writing them down on paper, than do it! Some people tend to stress out if they don’t reach their goals in the time they allotted to do so and end up dwelling on the idea of failure when this happens. If you are more-likely to freak out if you miss a deadline, then making a 5-year plan could be a bad idea for you. You will drive your spouse crazy with your what ifs, should have, could have, would haves! Why not just enjoy the first few years of marriage without having to worry about your deadlines to: buy a house, start a new career, start a family, go on a 2-week European vacation, etc.?

We spend so much time worrying about someone else’s idea and vision of the perfect life that we forget to just LIVE ours! Remember, it doesn’t matter what other people are doing to make their marriages work because they aren’t a part of yours. No two marriages are exactly alike and what works your grandparents, parents, in-laws and friends may not work for you. So, focus on making sure you and your spouse are happy. Keep communicating, laughing, loving, and enjoying your fabulous life together!

We’d love hear what crazy ‘Rules’ you’ve heard since your nuptials. Leave us a comment below and start a discussion with other Newlyweds!

A Maine Love Fest | Geneve Hoffman Photography

Friday, August 13th, 2010

Welcome to Casie and Joe’s Love Fest!  That adorable DIY wedding sign kind of makes me want to start calling all weddings love fests … love fest planners, love fest bands, love fests.  Catchy huh?  Well, this little love fest was filled with very cute details.  Colorful twig balls were hung on each chair and used as decor during the ceremony.  Love the creativity happening here.  This couple even had their own General Store!  I love this.  General Stores scream New England to me.  Especially New Hampshire and Vermont … fitting since they were married in the New Hampshire mountains.

I have really loved seeing when both the bride and groom, groom groom, or bride and bride wear white.  I think it’s a great way to come together and stand out at your wedding.  The orange tie is a great accent against the grooms white suite, wouldn’t you say?  Check out some photos from the wedding below and visit Geneve Hoffman’s blog to see the full wedding.

An Alyson’s Orchard Wedding | Kendal J. Bush Photography

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

This beautiful wedding took place on the ever-s0-lovely Alyson’s Orchard.  The beautiful grounds are a perfect backdrop to any wedding, the trees, the water, and the paths – can’t you just imagine yourself breathing in that crisp air!  This is one of the many reasons why i love New England … the amazing hills and trees and fresh air.  What a perfect quintessential New England venue.

The wedding was photographed by Kendal J. Bush Photography and the end results were stunning!  I love the elegant decor and the soft pink and white bridal bouquet, although my absolute fav. shot is the last one.  The couple kissing on the broken dock is so romantic!  A little Notebook-esque i think.  Take a look at some of the photos from this beautiful orchard wedding and visit Kendal J Bush Photography to view the full wedding.
